Good Governance, Human Rights Education Program (GGHR)

Exercising power and decision-making for a group of people is called governance. The well-being of a community depends on the choices made by people granted this authority. “Good governance” is a relatively new term that is often used to describe the desired objective of a nation-state’s political development. The principles of good governance, however, are not new. Good governance is, in short, anti-corruption whereas authority and its institutions are accountable, effective and efficient, participatory, transparent, responsive, consensus-oriented, and equitable. These are the major characteristics of good governance. To accomplish these characteristics role of civil society organizations is very important. Being a civil society organization, Aman Welfare Organization (AWO) has strategic decisions to ensure good governance and protection of Human Rights especially at south Punjab level,

Over all objective of this program is to strengthen civil society organizations and enhance their coordination efforts through research and capacity building

Agriculture & Environment Protection Program (AEPP)

Majority of people in the southern Punjab in the rural areas depend on agriculture for their livelihood needs. Due to the unjustified policies of the governments, our farmers are not in stable position. Usually a large number of rural people are under-employed and are forced to migrate seasonally to the more fertile and opportunity based areas in search of employment.

Agriculture and environment protection program will make sure to access the information, technology, markets, and capital and the corresponding enabling services using a community-based approach.  Following are the cross cutting programs of AEPP

1.1   Farmers Development & capacity Enhancement

1.2   Food Security

1.3   Irrigation Water Management

Poverty Eradication Program (PEP)

Pakistan is home to a significant proportion of the worlds poor. Almost a quarter of the country’s 158 million people survive below poverty line evaluated as the cost of basic food and essential non-food items and which has been adopted as the benchmark for progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . Human resource building is the most important aspect in poverty reduction strategies. From the beginning of AWO has been focusing to address the causes of poverty in rural communities of District Multan, Muzaffargarh and Khanewal. For the coming 5 year following cross cutting integrated programs will help us to address the extreme poverty in the most neglected areas of the targeted districts.

Community Development & Empowerment Program

Unfortunately in the history of Pakistan, governments have failed to provide basic necessities to the people particularly for their basic Health, Education, Sanitation, Nutrition, and water supply. The disappointment was due to government’s incapability to make pro-people policies. Civil Society has been trying to fulfill this huge gape with their limited resources. Efforts and work range of civil society organizations is very low and limited, there is need to functionalize the public institution and to build their working capacity. Aman Welfare Organization (AWO)  has been trying to serve the deprived communities in urban slums and rural areas of District Multan, Muzaffargarh and Khanewal.

From the last twelve years the organization has build strong association with the marginalized communities of the targeted Districts. It happens due to the regular interaction with the communities. Many of the areas are deprived from the basic necessities of life. Aman Welfare Organization (AWO) mobilized and organized the communities so that they can avail their basic needs of life from the public institutions. We have adopted following strategies to address the issues,

  • Awareness raising on socio- economic and political issues through meetings and group discussions
  • Formation of local committees as Community Based Organizations
  • Registration of these groups as CBOs
  • Trainings of these registered CBOs
  • Link up with district government to avail resources for the development of their areas
  • Build linkages with other institutions

Under the Community Development & Empowerment Program following are the cross cutting integrated programs,

1.1              Basic Health & HygieneProgram

1.2        Formal and Non-formal education program
